Did you know that Waitrose Kenilworth has put in an application to have ANPR cameras fitted at their store car park in order to replace the current system which appears from a consumer point of view to works well.
The new process will be managed by Britannia Parking who it can be assumed will also administer any penalties incurred and whilst it’s not unreasonable to take actions that prevent abuse of the Car park , given the issues at Sainsburys down the road recently you wonder what the motives really are. Strangely all of the Kenilworth District Councillors and the Town Council don’t seem to regard it as an issue , however Cllr Trevor Wright (Stoneleigh, Ashow & Leek Wootton) has raised an objection with concerns about how the car park will be operated and more importantly the control of the data , however he is alone in his actions. But you can look at the application and Cllr Wrights objection yourself by going to https://www.warwickdc.gov.uk/info/20374/planning_applications and put in W/19/1591 to see the full application and objection, Seemingly Kenilworth is becoming a ANPR haven at Supermarkets with Sainsburys, Tesco Layes Lane and now Waitrose all using ANPR, the increasing concern is are they become profit opportunities and is our data really safe? You decide, and if you want to understand what this means or object you can by following the link above. Comments are closed.
