In the main I believe that we all understand the impacts around the environment now and the impact of motor vehicles. At this moment in time almost every manufacturer is working flat out and investing billons to find a long term sustainable solution that provides the same longevity as we have today but it takes time to refine, develop and deliver these solutions to make sure they are reliable and safe. Make no mistake the automotive business WILL find a solution and in our area we are in the heart of that development with JLR, LEVC (Geely) Horiba Mira , Dennis Eagle and various specialist technology companies leading the way. For example, JLR have just announced the following in conjunction with Northumberland NHS. NHS Northumbria Foundation Trust has taken delivery of 700 Jaguar I Pace SUVs, which the healthcare organisation will lease to its public sector staff over the next three years Excellent news, not just because they are made and developed in our area, but it also provides a real platform for the support & development of the technology required and will provide real data in terms of the issues raised above. I (Cllr Wright) personally know many of the specialists working on these issues and they are some of the most dedicated people you would wish to meet and they will find a solution so next time you think negatively about the automotive sector think about all of the investment, dedication and focus already happening on OUR DOORSTEP by OUR COMMUNITY.
