Questions
What did you do before becoming a Councillor?
“My main career has been in the Automotive Business for over 40 years most of which was with JLR (and associated companies) and a number of years with the NHS as a Commissioner, workforce developer and advisor.”
“I also hold the position of vice chairmen of Healthwatch Warwickshire currently”
Why did you become a Councillor?
“I had never intended to really, and I am not that political, but I do believe in providing a voice for others and supporting the community.” For several years, I have worked in the third sector as an advisor in some of the most deprived places in the West Midlands using my skills hopefully to make things better”
Have you always lived in Warwickshire?
“Actually No, I am originally from Manchester (Moss side & Stockport) and I moved here over 35 years ago with my family and I regard this as my home. Both my children were brought up and attended school & collage here and my wife has been working at a local school for over 25 years”
I was relocated here as part of my job originally and I have been fortunate to work all over the world in my career”
What’s the most frustrating aspects of your role?
“The bureaucracy really, both in terms of processes, regulations and their application, some of which are both unhelpful and on the face of it illogical “
Do you regret being a Councillor?
“Sometimes, particularly recently with all of the other stuff going on that I can do little about. However, working with the community, I serve is quite supportive and hopefully I am regarded as being a straight talker”
Are you an ACTIVE or PASSIVE Councillor?
“Absolutely ACTIVE, which I believe is what all of the community expect from me, I have no interest in just having a badge”
Do you get paid for what you do and how much time does it take to do the role?
“NO you don't get paid and I spend about 25hrs per week on council matters, what you do get is a set allowance to cover expenses (which it just about does)” some do the role for political reasons I actually do to support the community as I have in other past roles”
What do you do to relax?
“Well I am a staunch Manchester City supporter and have been as season ticket holder for well over 20 years (as is my wife) I also do Tia Chi every week which helps in coping with all of the challenges”

How long do you plan to stay in the role ?
"As I was re-elected earlier this along with Cllr Redford in essence we are committed to 2023 currently. In terms of going beyond that , well we will wait and see".
