We have had a report recently of a number of new SCAMS in the area one of which supposedly involves a FAKE POLICE investigation , which ultimately involved the victim drawing money out of their bank account and sending it to a third party (this is real and its happened locally)
THE POLICE will NEVER ask you to set and pay a third party and if you are asked to do so DO NOT in fact call the local police before doing anything and they will visit you directly , they will NEVER EVER ask you to transfer money. The second one being reported is you may get a notification through your letter box saying you have a parcel waiting to be delivered and they give you phone number to call, this is a SCAM if you call the number you are likely to be charged in excess of £300 automatically. Its easy to get caught out, remember if you use amazon they will always tell about their deliveries, if it’s the Post office they will usually link and refer you to the postal collection point which will either be the main or a local post office. Do not get caught, they are getting more and more sophisticated in their SCAMs. If in doubt STOP and go back to the secure systems, you would normally use or contact the local Police and report it as a potential CYBER crime. Romance FRUAD, this is also an emerging area also , at a time when it really is difficult to meet people , follow the link with Warwickshire Police for more information. These people don NOT CARE who the steal from or WHAT STRESS or IMPACT THEY HAVE www.warwickshire.gov.uk/scams https://www.warwickshire.police.uk/news/warwickshire/news/ Comments are closed.
