Government grants to small business and the retail, hospitality and leisure industry
As you may be aware there are various grants available to support local business’s by way of Grant Funds which Warwick District Council are paying out on behalf of the Government Already WDC (Warwick District Council) have sent both letters and emails to over 800 business in our area however to date less than half have applied. This money is currently sitting in the WDC bank account and we want to get it paid out as soon as possible. If you know any local businesses that are finding it difficult now especially the small shop keepers etc we need to encourage them to apply without delay. As the portfolio holder Richard Hales said – “We certainly don’t want to have to give the money back to central government” To apply the full criteria is here: - Small Business Grant Fund: Under the Small Business Grant Fund (SBGF) all businesses in England in receipt of Small Business Rates Relief (SBRR) or Rural Rates Relief (RRR) as of the 11 March will be eligible for a payment of £10,000. We estimate that this will apply to some 730,000 businesses across England. Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund: Under the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant (RHLG) businesses in England that would have been in receipt of the Expanded Retail Discount (which covers retail, hospitality and leisure) on 11 March, with a rateable value of less than £51,000,will be eligible for cash grants of up to £25,000 per property. Eligible businesses in these sectors with a property that has a rateable value of up to and including £15,000 will receive a grant of £10,000.
